We're beneath the current street here, strolling through what used to be downtown Seattle. It was the strangest thing! A network of underground passageways still exists and is used today. It was fascinating to walk through this. During the decade or so while the rebuilding took place, people had to walk up and down ladders and underground to get around. Now imagine trying to get around wearing corsets and long skirts, or trying to move wheelbarrows of bricks or meat around, or trying to make your way around once the sun had set. Life did not seem very easy or pleasant on many fronts.
