Seattle's Pike Place Market was definitely one of the most interesting places we've ever explored. The Market first opened on Saturday, August 17, 1907, when hundreds of women, in the middle of a summer rainstorm, basically set up shop with a few farmers' carts loaded with produce on on a new plank roadway in downtown Seattle. The Market's first day was called a "clamorous fiasco," but it grew into today's enormous indoor/outdoor market, situated right smack on the Puget Sound.
